Tundra Click your Minnesota website design company includes basic search engine optimization or SEO with all websites. The word “basic” I know is a vague term so let me further explain. Basic SEO includes identifying what search terms you want to be found by and incorporating them into the website. So it’s important to try and  use the terms you wish to be found by in your text, tags, page specific keywords, SEO title and meta description.

This is straight from the Google website.

Give visitors the information they’re looking for

Provide high-quality content on your pages, especially your homepage. This is the single most important thing to do. If your pages contain useful information, their content will attract many visitors and entice webmasters to link to your site. In creating a helpful, information-rich site, write pages that clearly and accurately describe your topic. Think about the words users would type to find your pages and include those words on your site.

Search engine optimization is a profession itself. There are many companies who offer to get you page one for fees ranging from a bunch of money to an incredible sum of money. That’s not me. Typically what I have been able to do is get my clients sites found on the terms they deem most important. Now you have to remember that some search terms are being bought and paid for. Each term has it’s own value based on how many companies are willing to pay for a high rank on that term. If you want to be found on a high competition term it may be tough to achieve a page one rank without spending some extra money. For instance the search term “splatter targets” has much competition and many paid ads. We were still able to get Splatterburst Targets website to the top spot on page 2  and it’s climbing. My client Wasteland Performance is hoping to be found on the term “Textron 850”. The Wasteland site is on page one and as of right now it’s in the #1 spot. Now many companies are constantly competing to get found on page one and they work hard at it. Others are looking to be found by specific terms typically their company name or their name.

What I have found works well and is included in my site is basic SEO. Here it is in a nutshell:

ID a good term or two and use it in the text,  titles and meta description.

  • Use page specific keywords, SEO title and meta description.
  • Submit the site to the major search engines.
  • Submit the site map.
  • WordPress has lots of SEO tools. I typically install Yoast it’s a nice too to help with the SEO.

If you can blog or add content of interest to the site that helps and getting other sites to link to yours is good too. So that’s my post on SEO 101. I hope it helps your understanding of a very sophisticated business. I’m a skilled Minnesota website design guy. I’ll make you happy with your new website.
